Hallmarking Guidlines

A UK hallmark is struck or laser marked by an independent assay office and guarantees the precious metal content of the item you are buying. Selling in contravention of the law my be prosecuted and could face fines or imprisonment.

What should i do if my item is not hallmarked?

Some items particularly those featuring a laser hallmark can be difficult to locate or read, but firstly take them to a local jewellers and see if this can be identified for you, but if you have any further concerns regarding a hallmark you should contact your local Trading Standards Authority.
